What changed in the latest version
1 added · 1 removedPlain-language change summary
The updated version of Senate Bill 6117 introduces a clearer process for sealing juvenile court records. Key changes include the removal of the requirement for a contested hearing if the court receives an objection to sealing, streamlining the process by allowing for automatic sealing unless there is a compelling reason to deny it. This change matters because it simplifies the process for juveniles seeking to have their records sealed, which can help them reintegrate into society by reducing barriers to employment and education that past records may create.
