The revised Bill HB 2099 updates the definitions related to alcohol, distilleries, and licensing fees, particularly clarifying the types of distilleries and reducing licensing fees for some small distillers. One key change eliminates the distinction of "craft distilleries," simplifying the licensing structure. This matters because it aims to make it more affordable and easier for smaller distilleries to operate, which could encourage local production and support Washington's economy. The bill is set to take effect on January 1, 2018.
