Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 4690 simplifies the penalties for fleeing and eluding, making it clearer when individuals face stricter consequences. Notably, the amendment specifies that individuals without previous convictions may be sentenced to a maximum of two years instead of a range, and those with prior convictions could face a minimum of 30 days. This change is important because it establishes a more structured penalty system, making it easier to understand the consequences of such offenses and potentially deterring repeat violations.
