In the amended version of Bill SB 742, several important rights for sexual assault victims were added. The changes clarify that victims have the right to have their evidence collection kits preserved without charge for the maximum time allowed by law, and they also now have rights to receive written information upon request and to consult with a sexual assault counselor.
