What changed in the latest version

The recent changes to Bill HB 983 clarify that a person convicted of a personal injury crime against their spouse will not receive temporary financial support, known as alimony pendente lite. Previously, the bill included a provision that required the court to find it necessary to prevent injustice before denying support, which added ambiguity. Now, it directly states that these individuals are not entitled to such support, making it clearer and more straightforward. This matters because it reinforces the idea that victims of personal injury crimes should not have to financially support their aggressors during legal proceedings.
