This bill is no longer active — its legislative session has ended, so there is no live prognosis. It would have to be reintroduced in the current session to move again.

The recent amendment to Bill HB 1944 clarifies the deadline for the Governor to submit their budget to the General Assembly. Now, the Governor must provide the budget and supporting documents by the first week of February every year, or by the first week of March for a newly elected Governor. Additionally, the amendment includes a requirement for suggested legislative language that will help implement the proposed budget. This change is significant because it aims to streamline the budget process and ensure that lawmakers have the information they need in a timely manner to make informed decisions.
