Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill SB 955 include the establishment of a Community College Secondary Education Fire Training Pilot Program aimed at partnering high schools with community colleges. This program will help eligible high school students receive training to become volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Additionally, the bill requires school districts that offer these courses to provide transportation and supervision for any off-campus training. These changes are important as they facilitate practical training and increase the pool of qualified emergency service volunteers, benefiting both students and local communities.
