Plain-language change summary

The latest amendment to SB 728 clarifies that prescribers do not need to check the prescription drug monitoring system again if a patient is either admitted to, or under observation in, a licensed healthcare facility, as long as they remain in that status. Additionally, it specifies that prescribers are exempt from querying the system when prescribing certain nonnarcotic Schedule V controlled substances for treating epilepsy or seizure disorders. These changes aim to streamline the process for healthcare providers, allowing them to focus on patient care without unnecessary paperwork in specific situations. This should help improve efficiency in healthcare settings, especially for patients receiving ongoing care.
