The latest amendment to Bill HB 2133 has established the Kinship Caregiver Navigator Program under the Department of Human Services. This program aims to support relatives who are caring for children, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and services. The changes also clarify the definition of "kinship caregiver" to specify their age and relationship to the child, which is important for understanding who qualifies for the program. This matters because it helps secure better support for families who step in to care for children in need, strengthening community ties and child welfare.
