The updated version of Assembly Bill No. 512 includes clearer definitions and provisions for what constitutes casualty insurance, particularly regarding coverage for legal defense costs. It now explicitly prohibits insurers from limiting liability coverage by deducting costs associated with legal defense, ensuring better protection for policyholders. This change is important because it aims to provide more comprehensive coverage for individuals and businesses when facing legal claims, preventing insurance companies from reducing their payout for legal expenses related to those claims.
