Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Assembly Bill No. 336 allow for a combined preference of 10 percent for bids from Nevada-based businesses and those owned by veterans with service-connected disabilities, instead of the previous 5 percent for each preference individually. This change is significant because it aims to strengthen support for local businesses and veterans, potentially increasing their competitiveness in state contracts. By lifting the restriction on combining preferences, the bill encourages more bids from these groups, which can enhance local economic growth and recognition of veteran contributions.
