The updated version of Senate Bill No. 2 transfers the responsibility of creating regulations for the State Disaster Identification Coordination Committee from the Office of the Military to the Division of Emergency Management. It also clarifies that the Chief of the Division can activate the Committee not only during emergencies but also in preparation for upcoming emergencies. These changes aim to improve the coordination and responsiveness of the Committee during crisis situations, ensuring better management of information regarding individuals affected by disasters or public health emergencies. This shift is significant as it centralizes decision-making under one division, potentially streamlining operations and enhancing overall emergency management efficiency.
