The recent amendments to Bill AB 249 expand the scope of research allowed on the use of hemp products in animal feed, specifically for livestock other than horses. This change permits research facilities to apply to study the impacts of hemp on various livestock, which could lead to new insights about animal nutrition and health. Additionally, any animals fed with hemp products cannot have their products sold across state lines, ensuring the regulation of hemp use remains within state boundaries. These amendments are significant because they could foster agricultural innovation while maintaining safety standards within the industry.
