Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill SB 349 clarify regulations regarding farmers' markets and compostable materials. The changes specify that counties must not prohibit the sale of unpackaged produce at licensed farmers' markets, ensuring these markets remain accessible for both vendors and consumers. Additionally, the requirements for handling compostable materials have been refined, helping to streamline the process for diverting organic waste from landfills. This matters because it promotes local agriculture and environmentally-friendly waste practices, benefiting both the community and the environment.
