Plain-language change summary

Senate Bill No. 41 has been revised to expand the definition of "peace officer" to include federal law enforcement officers who are part of task forces with state or local agencies. This change allows these federal officers to apply for court orders to use pen registers or trap and trace devices, ensuring they can access vital tools for law enforcement. Additionally, the bill streamlines the application process by accepting electronic signatures and submissions, which could speed up investigations. Overall, these adjustments enhance cooperation between different levels of law enforcement while ensuring proper judicial oversight.
