Plain-language change summary

The recent update to Assembly Bill No. 166 now specifically requires political parties and committees to disclose their identities when they advocate for or against candidates through text messages, as long as they spend over $100 on such communications. Previously, while there were disclosure requirements for other types of communications, text messages were not clearly included. This change is significant because it enhances transparency in political messaging and helps voters know who is funding the outreach they receive via text.
