The amended Assembly Bill No. 514 now allows the Division of Parole and Probation to provide financial support for transitional housing specifically for indigent prisoners being released on parole. This change ensures that these individuals can access housing as they reintegrate into society, which can be crucial for their successful transition. By offering this support, the bill aims to reduce recidivism and enhance public safety by helping former prisoners secure stable living conditions upon their release.
