Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Assembly Bill No. 79 remove the exclusive status of the Las Vegas Valley Water District and the Southern Nevada Water Authority as the sole providers of water service for the Garnet Valley Ground Water Basin. This change allows other providers to potentially offer water services in that area, which could enhance competition and improve service options for residents. Additionally, the bill also eliminates a requirement for the Legislature to review this designated provider status, streamlining the regulatory process. This matters because it could lead to a more flexible and responsive water service landscape in Clark County.
