Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill HB 1794 primarily involve a change in administration of the grant programs related to COVID-19 mitigation. Previously, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning was responsible for administering the Postsecondary Education COVID-19 Mitigation Relief Program, but now that responsibility has shifted to the Department of Finance and Administration. Additionally, the allocated funding for this program has increased to $100 million, up from around $88.8 million. These changes are significant as they aim to streamline the administration of funds and increase the financial support available to help educational institutions address pandemic-related challenges.
