The updated version of SB 2744 now allows individuals to seek punitive damages in addition to actual damages, court costs, and attorney's fees from those responsible for their harm. This change matters because it enhances the financial remedies available to victims, potentially holding wrongdoers more accountable for their actions and providing a stronger deterrent against harmful behavior.
