Plain-language change summary

The changes to Bill SB 2269 establish that the Mississippi Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks can only acquire real estate and personal property with approval from the legislature. Additionally, the bill allows the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to make payments in lieu of taxes for specific properties transferred to the state. This matters because it adds a layer of oversight for property acquisitions and ensures that local taxing districts receive some compensation for state-owned lands.
