Plain-language change summary

The changes to Bill HB 98 clarify that the prohibition on using haul seine nets now applies specifically to marine waters within one-half mile of the shoreline of Cat Island. The bill removes the previous restriction that included speckled trout in the definition of "finfish," and it no longer lists haul seine nets in the category of prohibited devices. Additionally, the exemptions have been refined to only mention cast nets and brill nets. These adjustments matter because they help simplify the regulations for fishermen while still protecting marine life near Cat Island.
