What changed in the latest version

In the final version of Bill SB 2954, a few key changes were made. The total funding allocation was adjusted from roughly $144 million to about $141 million, reflecting a reduction in state funding for community colleges. Additionally, the timeframe for funding was clarified to cover a specific fiscal year, from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019. Importantly, the bill also reinforced the intention that no state funds should cover certain utility costs for employees living in state-furnished housing, ensuring that taxpayer money is used appropriately. These changes are significant as they outline clearer financial guidelines and accountability for the use of public funds in educational institutions.
