The bill HB 8 has been amended to impose new restrictions on former executive and legislative branch officials and employees regarding their ability to work as lobbyists. Specifically, former executive branch employees cannot lobby any agency they previously worked for for one year after leaving, while former legislative members are prohibited from lobbying until after the next spring legislative session or the next veto session, depending on when they leave office. This change is significant because it aims to reduce conflicts of interest and ensure that government officials do not leverage their past positions for personal gain immediately after leaving their roles.
