Plain-language change summary

The key change in Bill HB 6302 involves the requirement for county assessors in Illinois counties with over 3 million inhabitants to reassess residential properties that are not set for general assessment in 2008 by October 1 of that year. This amendment also specifies that the reassessment must be carried out without state reimbursement to the counties. This matters because it places an additional financial burden on counties to carry out reassessments while potentially affecting property tax rates and the accuracy of property valuations for residents.
