Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 8 has been amended to create a "Nurse Loan Repayment Program," which will provide grants to eligible nurses to help pay off their educational loans. Specifically, qualified applicants can receive up to $5,000 each year for a maximum of four years. This change is significant because it aims to support nurses, especially those serving veterans, by alleviating some of their financial burdens related to education, thereby potentially improving healthcare services for veterans.
