The recent changes to SB 1995 focus on how withdrawals from tuition savings programs are treated for tax purposes. The amendment specifies that if people make a nonqualified withdrawal from these accounts—meaning the money wasn't used for approved educational expenses—they must add that amount back to their taxable income. This change matters because it clarifies the tax implications for individuals using these savings programs, potentially affecting their overall tax liabilities.
