What changed in the latest version
22 added · 28 removedPlain-language change summary
The updated version of SB 810 adds a new section to the Illinois Pension Code that recognizes county corrections officers who suffer a heart attack or stroke due to their duties as being injured in the line of duty. This change allows these officers to access specific benefits designed for duty-related injuries, which underscores the recognition of the high-risk nature of their work. Additionally, it includes a provision stating that the state will not be required to reimburse for implementing this amendment, which may simplify the legislative process for local governments. Overall, this amendment aims to provide better support and protection for corrections officers.
