The amendment to Bill SB 671 adds a specific provision addressing how a pupil's residency is determined when their legal custodian is in military service. It states that if a child moves because of their custodian's military duty, their school district residency will stay linked to their previous home until the custodian’s service is complete. This change is important because it ensures that students whose families face relocations due to military obligations can maintain stability in their education without complications related to enrollment, tuition, and fees. The bill also requires schools to facilitate re-enrollment when needed, further supporting these families during transitions.
