Plain-language change summary

The amendments to SB 1982 update the focus of the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Program Act by expanding the types of academic program priority areas eligible for grants to institutions of higher education. Previously, grants were limited to programs in engineering, science, math, and education, but the revised bill now includes additional fields like healthcare, technology, and other areas determined by the Board of Higher Education. This change is significant as it allows for a broader range of students to gain work experience in critical sectors, which can help address workforce shortages in various industries.
