Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill SB 1959 primarily change how supplemental benefit payments are calculated for eligible individuals within the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Specifically, the revised bill states that these payments will now be set at 75% of the retirement or surviving spouse annuity amount from the previous June, and it adds a new factor relating to employee earnings from all participating municipalities to determine the contribution rate for municipalities. This change is important because it clarifies the payment process and may affect the financial contributions required from municipalities, potentially impacting local budgets.
