Provides that any optometrist who willfully fails to report suspected elder abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, or self-neglect shall be referred to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for disciplinary action.

The amendments to Bill SB 2290 broaden the scope of reporting requirements for optometrists concerning suspected abuse or neglect. Instead of just focusing on child abuse, optometrists must now report any instances of suspected elder abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, or self-neglect. This change is significant because it aims to enhance protections for vulnerable populations, ensuring that optometrists play a critical role in identifying and addressing abuse in both children and the elderly.
