Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill SB 384 introduces important changes regarding how delinquent sewerage service payments are handled. It now requires that the owner of the property gets a chance to discuss their situation before any water service is discontinued, taking into account their financial ability to pay. Additionally, the township is mandated to cover the costs associated with stopping and restarting water service, as well as compensating the water service provider for any lost revenue during the disconnect period. These changes aim to protect property owners while ensuring that the financial responsibilities of service providers are met.
