What changed in the latest version
30 added · 57 removedPlain-language change summary
The updated version of SB 149 extends the expiration date of the Physician Assistant Practice Act from January 1, 2008, to January 1, 2018, allowing the law to remain in effect for an additional ten years. The bill also increases the maximum civil penalty for unlicensed practice from $5,000 to $10,000, which could act as a stronger deterrent against violations. Additionally, it updates several agency names and clarifies various regulatory provisions, which helps streamline and modernize the oversight of physician assistants. These changes matter because they ensure that the practice remains well-regulated and that penalties for noncompliance are more significant.
