The amendment to Bill SB 83 expands the ability for county boards to create code hearing units by allowing any county to do so, instead of just those with populations under 3,000,000. This is significant because it opens up the option for smaller counties to establish these units, promoting transparency and efficiency in managing building and zoning code violations. By increasing access to code hearing units, more residents will benefit from clearer processes and faster resolutions to disputes.
