Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill HB 1627 introduce a provision allowing the board to provide optional informational materials to retirees from nonprofit associations, provided that at least half of the association's members are also beneficiaries of the pension system. This change replaces an earlier requirement that the board was responsible for making one mailing a year solely on behalf of a nonprofit association. This is important because it gives retirees more choices about the information they can receive, while also placing the responsibility for mailing expenses on the nonprofit associations. Overall, it aims to support better communication between retirees and relevant organizations.
