Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 2558 allows individuals who provided full-time contractual services at Illinois Veterans Homes to establish service credits for their work by making certain contributions, specifically allowing for up to 8 years of service. This is significant because it recognizes the contributions of these workers and enables them to gain better pension benefits, which could attract more qualified personnel to serve at Veterans Homes. The amendment also sets a deadline for applications, ensuring a clear process for those affected.
