The updated version of SB 2199 extends the deadline for the Department on Aging and related agencies to create a plan for improving services for older adults from September 30, 2008, to September 30, 2009. Additionally, the revised bill clarifies that the plan must focus on individual preferences while ensuring the safety and care of nursing home residents, and it should identify any barriers to making these service changes. This is important because it helps protect the rights of older adults and ensures that changes to service delivery do not compromise the care they receive.
