What changed in the latest version
12 added · 11 removedPlain-language change summary
The amendment to House Resolution 71 now specifies that only foreign-born citizens who become permanent residents by the age of one can run for President of the United States. Previously, the resolution did not include this age condition, making it open-ended. This change is significant because it narrows the eligibility criteria, ensuring that only those who have been in the country since such a young age can aspire to the highest office, which could encourage a sense of early belonging and integration into American society.
