The updated version of Bill SB 6 now specifies that both psychiatrists and federally qualified health centers will be reimbursed for providing mental health services through telepsychiatry. It also includes clearer criteria for reimbursement, such as requiring appropriate facilities and equipment, and specifies that a healthcare professional must be present with the patient during the telehealth session. These changes aim to enhance the quality and accessibility of mental health care through remote services, ensuring that patients receive adequate support and that providers are properly compensated for their services.
