Plain-language change summary

The latest version of SB 753 establishes the Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission, which will consist of nine commissioners appointed by various leaders, including the governor, the president of the Senate, and the speaker of the House. This commission is charged with overseeing efforts to preserve the historic sites linked to the Supreme Court of Illinois. This change is significant because it formalizes a dedicated group to focus on preserving the state’s judicial heritage, ensuring these historical sites are recognized and maintained for future generations. In contrast, previous sections regarding the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act have been removed, indicating a shift away from those provisions in this bill.
