The recent amendment to SB 79 added a comprehensive list of factors that the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team must consider when developing plans for children with autism spectrum disorder. These factors include communication needs, social skills development, responses to sensory experiences, and behavioral support strategies. This change is important because it ensures that the educational approach is tailored to meet the diverse needs of each child, supporting their overall progress in school and beyond without mandating specific services.
