The recent changes to SB 5169 removed the clause that declared an emergency related to the bill, which means it no longer takes effect immediately. Instead, the bill will follow the standard legislative timeline, which allows for more public discussion and input. This adjustment is significant because it gives communities more time to understand the implications of the bill regarding children's testimony in legal situations before it is enacted.
