Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 6130 establishes a clear date for Washington state schools to observe "National Voter Registration Day" on the third Tuesday of September each year, instead of in January as previously suggested. This change is significant because it allows teachers to incorporate voter registration activities and civic education lessons closer to the November general election, enhancing student engagement in the electoral process. Additionally, it requires public high schools to host a voter registration event for seniors and other interested students, ensuring that they have opportunities to participate in future elections.
