The amendment to HB 1109 changed the retirement age for certain facilities from 40 years to 65 years. This is important because it allows facilities to remain operational for a longer period, potentially giving them time to upgrade and comply with new standards rather than being forced to close earlier. This change aims to balance the need for modernization with the practicalities of maintaining essential services.
