The changes to House Bill 1688 clarify the definition of "outdoor storage property" and update regulations related to electric security alarm systems. Previously, outdoor storage properties were defined as those that could not be next to K-12 schools and had restrictions on residential uses; now, those restrictions have been removed, making it easier for various commercial properties to utilize outdoor storage. Additionally, the bill ensures that electric security alarms are allowed on these properties and are not considered fencing, which streamlines their installation and use. These updates matter because they enhance security options for businesses while simplifying regulations around outdoor storage.
