TN —————+ Patron—Deeds+ R —————+ + O Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026 L WHEREAS, the Nelson County High School girls' soccer team won the Virginia High School League OL D Class 2 state championship at Salem High School on June 13, 2026;
and E WHEREAS, the Nelson County High School Lady Governors defeated the Glenvar High School U Highlanders to bring home the program's first state championship title and finish the season undefeated;
and D WHEREAS, after 100 minutes of action, the match remained tied 0–0 and went to a penalty shootout;
C then, with the Nelson County Lady Governors holding a 3–2 advantage, their goalkeeper Piper Kelly made a E clutch save to hold the lead and claim victory;
and D WHEREAS, many of the Nelson County Lady Governors have played together from a young age, forming a close and cohesive bond that made them unstoppable as they matured as a team;
now, therefore, be it S RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Nelson County High School girls' soccer team hereby be R commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship;
and, be it 0 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to 5 Bryan Ferren, head coach of the Nelson County High School girls' soccer team, as an expression of the E Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued SR success.
