and D WHEREAS, born in Philadelphia, Susan Kellom graduated from Gettysburg College before serving her UE country for several years as a military police officer in the United States Army, becoming one of the fiCstfirst D women to be selected for the military police advanced course;
and WHEREAS, Susan Kellom moved to Alexandria in the early 1980s and soon became an influential E member of the community through her extensive involvement with a number of local civic and political organizations;
and D WHEREAS, from 1997 to 2013, Susan Kellom was a member of the Alexandria Commission for Women, and she later continued to assist the commission as a member of the board of the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women;
and WHEREAS, Susan Kellom served on the Alexandria Youth Policy Commission from 1997 to 2003 and S on the Alexandria Human Rights Commission for many years, including two terms as chair;
and R WHEREAS, Susan Kellom served as chair of the Alexandria Democratic Party Committee from 1999 to 2 2010, and she guided and mentored many candidates and local leaders over the years;
and 1 WHEREAS, Susan Kellom was appointed chair of the Alexandria Electoral Board in 2012 and oversaw E R the city's registrar's office and electoral process with great integrity and professionalism;
and R WHEREAS, Susan Kellom drove efforts to establish MetroStage in Alexandria, which has made a 2 meaningful and lasting imprint on the city's cultural scene since its founding;
and 0 WHEREAS, preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, Susan Kellom will be fondly remembered and 6 dearly missed by her brother, David;
