The amendment to Bill H 954 introduces a two percent local option tax on certain sales, meals, rooms, and alcoholic beverages in the Town of Stowe. Importantly, it specifies that 50% of the tax revenue collected over one percent will go towards a special transportation fund, benefiting local transportation projects. Additionally, this new tax replaces any previously approved local option taxes in the town. This change matters because it provides a dedicated funding source for local transportation needs while ensuring consistency in tax structure.
