The updated version of Bill HB 180 clarifies that individuals with a concealed carry permit are not allowed to openly carry dangerous weapons on the grounds of daycares and elementary or secondary schools, except when responding to an active threat. This is an important change because it restricts the visibility of weapons in sensitive environments like schools and daycares, aiming to enhance safety for children and staff. Additionally, the bill has omitted references to institutions of higher education from the open carry provision, narrowing the focus on younger students.
